CULL OBSIDIAN, WHO?

Yesterday, Hasbro released images of some of their second wave of Marvel Legends figures for Avengers: Infinity War, and we at AFJHQ were left scratching our heads over who this build-a-figure character is. SO, Who the hell is Cull Obsidian?
Cull Obsidian
Now, when you search for the character Cull Obsidian, you get a hit on the Marvel Cinematic Universe wiki and the Disney wiki. The MCU wiki lists him as one of Thanos’s children and a member of the Black Order, while the Disney wiki includes the fact that he has another name, Black Dwarf.

Black Dwarf Proxima Midnight Corvus Glaive Ebony Maw

Avengers Infinity War’s Black Order will contain Corvus Glaive, Ebony Maw, Proxima Midnight, and Cull Obsidian, which are (in the MCU) all Thanos’s “children.” (Notably missing from the Black Order in the MCU are Supergiant and Black Swan)

What is confusing about all these names is that the Black Order, Thanos’s invasion force from the comics (and now the MCU), also has another name according to the Marvel Database, Cull Obsidian. So, for the movie, Marvel changed Black Dwarf’s name to Cull Obsidian, which was another name for the Black Order, of which Black Dwarf/Cull Obsidian is a member. Is your head spinning?
Thanos
If you’re wondering why I’m not sure I have an answer. One guess is that they probably just changed it because Cull Obsidian fits better with the other names of the members of the Black Order (something suggested by some redditors last year). But the best theory we’ve come up with is that its possible that Black Dwarf will play a larger role in the upcoming movie (possibly fusing with the other members of the Black order?) so they renamed him to something more catchy?

The LEGO Cull Obsidian In the Sanctum Sanctorum Showdown Set

What we do know is that in New Avengers (2013) #9 (Called “The Cull Obsidian” during the Infinity Event) Black Dwarf engages Black Panther in Wakanda (and loses). Will we see this moment in Avengers: Infinity War? Or will this character just be a throwaway villain that disappears after the first five minutes?

Sound off Junkies, in the comment section below.
