Variety has broken the news that Keri Russell (The Americans) is in talks with Lucasfilm Ltd. and Walt Disney for a role in JJ Abrams, Star Wars Episode IX.
"Sources tell Variety that J.J. Abrams is in early talks with the “Felicity” alum to join “Star Wars: Episode IX,” which Abrams is writing and directing. Russell and Abrams last collaborated on 2006’s “Mission: Impossible III.”
The role calls for action-heavy fight scenes and Russell has shown her ability to perform tough stunts in projects like FX’s 'The Americans,' 'Mission: Impossible,' and 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes'." Read the full story HERE on Variety.
AFJ's Take: Russell did not make our Top 10 list of actors for Episode IX back in September when it was announced that Abrams would direct (seen HERE) We applaud the addition of her to the cast if it becomes official. Back when Abrams was announced to direct Episode VII Russell openly spoke about wanting to be a part of Star Wars. Now it seems as if she is going to get her wish.
