Welcome to AFJ's 31 Days of Horror Figures. For the month of October, we will be spotlighting the very best of the macabre, bizarre, monstrous, and villainous action figures the industry has to offer. There will be both old and new figures here and perhaps even a significance to why we picked that figure for that day (and perhaps not). This is NOT a ranking list, just full blown horror fun for the greatest month of the year. #AFJ4LIFE
Dracula may have been the first Universal Monster movie, however, it is Frankenstein that has become the studio's figurehead. Today, we celebrate Dr. Frankenstein's creation with Mezco Toyz's One:12 Collective release (on the 12th of October, Junkies, see what we did there?). The actual publication of the "Frankenstein" novel, by Mary Shelly (1 January 1818 (Lackington, Hughes, Harding, Mavor & Jones)) is celebrating its 200th anniversary this year. The film by Universal Studios is rockin' its 87th.
Now if you feel so inclined to seek out one of Mezco's breathtaking rendition of the creature; which was one of their first One:12 releases, you actually have several options. There is PX Exclusive (Color Variant) to seek out. Mezco did, initially, release (Black and White (Silver)) version. However, you also may have to contend with finding a version with or without the "doorway" accessory (seen below). Fear not, the "doorway" was later sold separately too. They are no longer on the Mezco website, however, in doing our research, we did find several on secondary marketplaces. Our word of advice is NOT to buy one during the month of October or a Horror Con. Seek one in February, you'll probably find a better deal.
