The incredible thing about 80 years of Batman, in pop culture, is that we can literally feature anything from comics to movies to Louis the Lialac. Yes, Louis the Lialac (Google him Millennials). This week to celebrate DC's release of DCeased we are looking back to 2010's DC Direct Blackest Night Series 5 Black Lantern Batman aka Zombie Batman!
(On a side note, if you haven't read issue #1 of DCeased, do it now! It was an amazing start to that series. When I was done I was shocked at how fast I read it.)
When the solicitations for this figure came out, I was blown away. The entire series had been amazing already, but finally, we were getting a Black Lantern Batman! The Blackest Night story arc was hot off the heels of Batman R.I.P. and Final Crisis. With Black Lantern Batman being a shock reveal in the book. There was a caveat with it though, so if you haven't read that book, go do it now! It's an amazing read.
Batman came in a standard DC Direct clamshell that they were using at the time. His only accessory was his stand. The figure itself is beautifully sculpted. The details are amazing and the paint apps were fresh. It literally looks like it jumped out of the book.
The figure has 19 points of articulation. Not a ton, but the articulation he has works really well for intimidating poses or zombie-like poses. The figure also sports the Black Lantern ring on his right hand.
Now I'll be honest, my figure is still moc. He's the second one that I've owned. I had one that I opened and traded him for another rare Batman piece I was missing. If you are thinking that you want him, grab him. He's getting more and more hard to find and expensive on the secondary market. He's a great piece and definitely worthy of a space on your Batman shelf, or Bat-Wall! #LongLiveTheBat
